JENNIFER GROSSMAN
Vice President- Dole Nutrition Institute
At Dole, Jennifer Grossman promotes the importance of incorporating more fruits
and vegetables into the American diet. She chiefly channels nutrition
information to the public through brochures, a bi-monthly newsletter, articles,
videos and the Dole Food for Thought magazine. With a background
in corporate communications, government service and public policy, Jennifer has
served as Director of Education Policy at the Cato Institute and as
speechwriter to President George H.W. Bush, and then continued to provide
communications support for leading politicians and businessmen. Jennifer has
been a frequent television commentator, with guest appearances including Larry
King Live, the O'Reilly Factor, the Today Show and Politically Incorrect.
Her opinion editorials have appeared in the New York Times, the Wall
Street Journal, the Los Angeles Times, the New York Post,
the Weekly Standard, National Review, the Women's Quarterly,
and thousands of local publications around the country.
BEN SUSSMAN
Manager of Marketing and Business Development - Dole Nutrition Institute
Ben has joined the Dole Nutrition Institute to work with retail and corporate
partners to develop marketing and co-branding initiatives across all media to
promote the benefits of a healthy lifestyle. In addition, Ben manages our
broad-ranging outreach for children's nutrition through the Dole Superkids
website. Ben has an extensive background in marketing, most recently running a
successful marketing consulting firm with numerous corporate clients.
Previously, he held key marketing positions at Walt Disney Entertainment and
Paramount Pictures. Educated at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts,
Ben was awarded a Bachelor of Fine Arts. At home, Ben enjoys spending time with
his wife Morgan and 3-year-old daughter, Sibyl.
NICHOLAS D. GILLITT, Ph. D
Nutrition Research and Labeling Manager
- Dole Nutrition Institute
D. Gillitt, Ph.D. originally joined the Dole Nutrition Institute (DNI) as a
Research Chemist in our phytochemical laboratory in 2005 and has since been
promoted to Nutrition Research and Labeling Manager responsible for evaluating
nutrition information in support of product development as well as providing
the research underpinning all of the DNI's educational materials, be they
print, online or video. Dr. Gillitt graduated from the UK's Newcastle
Polytechnic in 1990 with a first class honors degree in Applied Chemistry
winning the BDH prize for best performance. He received his Ph.D. in 1994
from the University of Northumbria at Newcastle, under the supervision of Dr.
D.M. Davies. Dr. Gillitt has co-authored over 35 papers in peer reviewed
scientific journals including the Journal of Organic Chemistry, the Journal of
Physical Organic Chemistry, Langmuir, the Journal of Colloid and Interface
Science, and the Journal of the Royal Chemical Society Dalton Trans. He
completed his post doctoral study at the University of California at Santa
Barbara. Dr. Gillitt's research background in reaction kinetics helped develop
several enzymatic assays used in Dole Laboratories to evaluate Dole products
and cultivation practices.
